Doing pretty well in this one currently. At the first break I'm up to 9060. I've been trying a new strategy in this one and it has been working rather well. I've been raising to roughly 2.5x the BB preflop when I raise with anything other than AA or KK or QQ. I'm not 100% sure that its vastly superior to limping, but I think it allows me to get a few more chips with my "decent" hands if I simply bet 1/2 pot on the flop and pick it up. I'm hoping to continue to build my stack over the next few levels, but I'm playing pretty tight, and I'm going to continue to do that. Ideally, I'd like 20k chips by the end of the next break, but we shalt see.

The AK hand was my one shot really. I figured a standard reraise might get called, and I decided the best play was to just shove it in, and make him fold most hands. Unfortunately, he had a hand, and I was unable to improve. Had I won that hand I would have gotten above average stacked and been in great shape to continue along.

I think I will keep playing tournaments, but I really think that its much more frustrating then playing in cash games. So much more emotional investment in tournaments - and so much more depends on a single hand. :(

Doing pretty well in this one currently. At the first break I'm up to 9060. I've been trying a new strategy in this one and it has been working rather well. I've been raising to roughly 2.5x the BB preflop when I raise with anything other than AA or KK or QQ. I'm not 100% sure that its vastly superior to limping, but I think it allows me to get a few more chips with my "decent" hands if I simply bet 1/2 pot on the flop and pick it up. I'm hoping to continue to build my stack over the next few levels, but I'm playing pretty tight, and I'm going to continue to do that. Ideally, I'd like 20k chips by the end of the next break, but we shalt see.

The AK hand was my one shot really. I figured a standard reraise might get called, and I decided the best play was to just shove it in, and make him fold most hands. Unfortunately, he had a hand, and I was unable to improve. Had I won that hand I would have gotten above average stacked and been in great shape to continue along.

I think I will keep playing tournaments, but I really think that its much more frustrating then playing in cash games. So much more emotional investment in tournaments - and so much more depends on a single hand. :(
